Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas - Starter Brad Mills kept the Round Rock Express (36-30) within striking distance for six innings, but the Albuquerque Isotopes (34-31) took advantage of the E-Train bullpen en route to a 6-0 win Tuesday night.

The "˜Topes got the scoring started in the top of the first, plating a run on a fielder's choice as second baseman Elian Herrera came around to cross the dish after singling off Mills with one out to give the visitors an early 1-0 lead.

The southpaw settled in, blanking Albuquerque over the next two innings before the Isotopes touched him up in the fourth. With two outs, catcher Matt Wallach jumped on a 1-0 offering from Mills and launched it just inside the right field foul pole for a solo shot to make it 2-0.

The left-hander finished his night after 6.0 innings, turning in his sixth quality start of the season after allowing two runs on seven hits.

Right-hander Ryan Rodebaugh relieved Mills to start the seventh, making his Express debut in just his second day with the club. The Isotopes quickly hung four runs on the newcomer before he could register an out. Rodebaugh finished out the inning but allowed five hits, including two doubles as the Express entered the final third of the game trailing 6-0.

Albuquerque's pitching staff stifled the E-Train offense for the first seven innings, allowing just one runner to reach scoring position while the E-Train scattered three hits. Round Rock had its best scoring opportunity in the bottom half of the eighth when first baseman Jim Adduci walked with one out and two batters later was followed with a two-out double off the bat of second baseman Greg Miclat. Unfortunately, the Express was unable to push across a run as center fielder Engel Beltre grounded out to end the threat. Round Rock finished the game 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position, leaving just four runners on base throughout the night.

The E-Train went quietly in the ninth, dropping game two of a four-game series against the "˜Topes. Mills suffered his first loss of the season, dropping to 6-1 while Albuquerque starter Blake Johnson (6-3) earned the victory after tossing 5.0 scoreless innings.

The Express continues the four-game set with the Isotopes Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. Dell Diamond will feature game-show style promotions as a part of Winning Wednesday, presented by the Texas State Lottery.
