Albany Panthers News Release

ALBANY, GA - When the back to back and defending Professional Indoor Football League Champion Albany Panthers take the field against rival Columbus this weekend, it will do so with heavy hearts. Backup quarterback James Stedman and wide receiver Antwone Savage are both lost for the season after suffering injuries in on the field action.

To keep Stedman and Savage in their thoughts, Albany players will be wearing stickers on the back of their helmets to support their teammates.

"It's the least we could for them," General Manager Will Carter said. "For us to put a small decal on the back of our helmets to let them know that we're thinking about them... anything we can do to lift their spirits and their family's spirits."

Savage recently underwent surgery to repair a broken tibia, fibula, and fractured ankle. Doctors say he is out for the rest of the season.

"Savage has not only been an asset to the Panthers organization, but more importantly to the thousands of kids who he has inspired and had been a role model to in Southwest Georgia," Carter went on to say. "Savage has been a winner at every level and deserves to have his picture on the wall in the Albany Civic Center... He is a Hall of Famer in my books and I will do everything in my power to see that it happens."

Stedman suffered a broken ankle in action against the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks on a kickoff. Physicians say he is out for 4 to 6 weeks. The stickers feature Stedman's #12 and Savage's #6 and will be worn for the rest of the season.
