Trenton Thunder News Release

(Harrisburg, PA) - Harrisburg scored five unanswered runs late in the contest and held Trenton to just five hits as the Senators dropped the Thunder, 6-2, Sunday afternoon at Metro Bank Park to win the rubber-match of the three-game series.

Taylor Jordan (3-0) tossed seven strong innings to pace the Senators to the victory, allowing only three hits and two runs (one earned) after entering the game in the second. Former Thunder Christian Garcia, on MLB injury rehab for the Washington Nationals, started and pitched a scoreless first inning.

Trailing Trenton 2-1 in the bottom of the sixth, Harrisburg rallied for two runs against starter Nik Turley (5-3) to take the lead. Justin Bloxom's RBI double tied the score with one out, and Sandy Leon's two-out single later brought home Bloxom with the go-ahead tally.

Branden Pinder allowed three runs in the eighth, including Steven Souza Jr.'s leadoff solo home run (5). Jose Lozada's infield RBI hit with two out capped the rally.

Trenton scored twice in the fifth against Jordan without the benefit of a hit. After two hit-batsmen began the inning, first-baseman Bloxom's throwing error allowed the Thunder to score their first run since Friday night. Walter Ibarra followed and lifted a sacrifice fly that gave Trenton a 2-1 lead.

After a day off on Monday Trenton continues the current six-game road trip with the opener of a three-game set at first-place Binghamton. Right-hander Zach Nuding (2-6, 3.28) is expected to start for the Thunder while the Mets counter with righty Erik Goeddel (4-2, 4.99). Radio coverage on 91.3 FM (WTSR) and also streaming online begins at 6:20 pm Tuesday.
