Explorers Pounds Lincoln 6-4

Sioux City - Bryan Pounds hit three home runs and drove in four as the Explorers defeated Lincoln 6-4 here Friday night. Pounds first home run came in the fourth inning to tie the game at 2-2 after Lincoln had taken a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth on solo home runs by David Espinosa and Dennis Raben.

With the contest tied at 2-2, Pounds connected on his second home run of the game, a two-shot over the left field fence that gave the Explorers a 4-2 lead. After the Explorers scored an un-earned run in the seventh, Pounds hit his third home run of the night in the eighth inning to increase the X's lead to 6-2.

Lincoln cut the final margin to 6-4 when Raben connected on a two-run home run in the ninth off relief pitcher Chris Bodishbaugh. It was the first runs the Explorers righthander had given up this season.

Dan Jurik pitched six inning to pick up his first win of the season while Ben Henry (0-2) was the losing pitcher for Lincoln.

A crowd of 2,251, the largest of the season for the Explorers at Lewis and Clark Park watched the Explorers get back to the .500 mark at 7-7.

The second game of the three-game series with Lincoln will be played Saturday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05pm.
