Rochester Red Wings News Release

TONIGHTfS GAME: After completing a four-game sweep of Lehigh Valley and a 6-2 homestand with a 13-10 win on Thursday afternoon, the Red Wings hit the road for an eight-game road trip beginning Friday night (7:15 p.m.) against the Charlotte Knights (White Sox) in Fort Mill, SC... Rochester has won six of eight games to move back into 5th place in the IL North -- 8.0 GB of Pawtucket... The Knights have gone 5-5 in their last 10 and sit in 4th place in the IL South, 12.5 GB of the Durham Bulls.

WITH A WIN TONIGHT THE WINGS...:

¨Will win five games in a row for the first time this season and for the first time since a 7-game streak 7/29-8/5/12.

¨Will finish the month of May with a winning record (15-14) for the first time since the 2009 season (17-14)... The Wings had gone 33-53 in the seasonfs second month the last three years.

¨Will win their 6th series opener of the season (5-10) and their third in a row.

MORE ABOUT YESTERDAYfS 13-10 SERIES FINALE WIN...:

¨The Wings recorded a season-high 30 total bases... Ironically, it was the most TB for Rochester in a 9-inning game since May 30 of last season... The Wings recorded 37 TB in a 19-inning game on August 5, 2012 at Toledo.

¨The Wingsf 6-run 4th inning tied a season-high. The Wings also scored 6 in the 5th inning on May 19 @ LHV

¨The 13 runs fell one shy of the Red Wings season-high 14 runs on April 7 vs. BUF... The combined 23 runs was a season-high.

¨The Wings 7 XBH (2B, 2 3B, 4 HR) were one shy of season high 8 on 5/7 @ TOL... 4 HRfs one shy of season-high 5 on 5/4 @ COL

¨RHP Shairon Martis earned his second straight save (1.0 ip, h, k) in as many days and just the 3rd of his entire career... Before Wednesday, Martisf last save was in 2005 with the AZL Giants.

ARCIA BREAKS OUT: After OF Oswaldo Arciafs first inning strikeout Thursday, the highly touted prospect was 0-for-14 since being optioned to Rochester on 5/24 and just 4-for-43 in his last 15 games combined between MIN & ROC... He snapped his streak with an opposite-field RBI double in the third inning and then hit a towering homer to right-center in the 4th inning. He finished the day a triple shy of the cycle and went 4-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 2 RBI... It was Arciafs first career 4-hit game at the Triple-A level and the 11th of his career.

ROHLFING ROLLING: OF/C Dan Rohlfing, who made his Red Wings debut Wednesday by hitting a game-tying, solo home run in his first Triple-A at-bat, went 3-for-4 with a walk and 2 runs scored in his encore performance Thursday. Over his first two games with Rochester, Rohlfing is 4-for-5 with 2 walks, 4 runs, 2 RBI and a home run and has not skipped a beat since leaving New Britain where he was hitting .353 with 2 doubles, 4 runs and 6 RBI over his last 6 games prior to his promotion. Wednesdayfs homer was just the 7th of his career and first above the single-A level. His last long ball came over a year ago on April 14, 2012 with Ft. Myers (A)... Rohlfing joins Oswaldo Arcia, Chris Colabello and Nate Hanson as Red Wings to homer in their Triple-A debutfs this season.

HITTINf THE HOMER: The Wings bashed four more home runs on Thursday and now have 50 homers (3rd in the IL) in the first 54 games of the season. Through May last season, the Wings had hit just 25 long balls and didnft hit their 50th homer until July 3 -- their 85th game of the season... Rochester hit 47 homers thru May in the 2005 season but hadnft hit more than 36 (2008) in the seasonfs first two months until this season. The Wings are on pace to hit 133 long balls this season, it would be the most since the Wings hit 133 in 2008.

¨The Wings have already gotten 5 home runs from three players (Bernier (2), Fryer (2) & Rohlfing (1)) who hit a combined one HR last season and just 10 homers combined the last two seasons.

WARMING WITH RISP: The Red Wings have gone 6-for-16 with runners in scoring position over their last three games and are now hitting .319 (44-for-138) with RISP over their last 15 games raising their average on the season to .229 with RISP -- still just 13th out of 14 teams in the IL. On May 14, however, the Wings were hitting just .194 in those situations.

¨Doug Bernier leads the team with 17 hits w/ RISP (17-51; .333) and is 2nd on the team with 18 RBI w/ RISP (Colabello, 22)

PUTTING THE PIGS TO SWEEP!: The Red Wings finished off just their 9th four-game sweep since the beginning of the 2005 season on Thursday against the IronPigs. Eight of those nine sweeps have now come at Frontier Field. The lone road sweep came last season at Toledo 8/2-8/5. During the 4-game series, the Red Wings scored 34 runs (8.5 R/G), hit .320 (39-for-122) as a team and recorded 16 extra-base hits (9 home runs).
