Lennerton Homers Twice in Hens' Loss in Charlotte

May 28, 2013 - International League (IL1) - Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Mud Hens pitching struggled Tuesday night, allowing 12 runs (nine earned) in a 12-3 defeat in Charlotte.

The Hens looked as if they were going to carry momentum from last night's victory into Tuesday's game when Jordan Lennerton connected for a two-run bomb in the third inning. The homer was Lennerton's ninth of the year and extended his hit streak to 17 games while giving the Hens an early 2-0 lead.

Charlotte quickly turned the tide in the fifth inning, roughing up Ramon Garcia for six runs on five hits to take a 6-2 lead. The Knights repeated their success with six runs off reliever Kenny Faulk in the following inning to stretch their lead to 12-2.

Lennerton smashed his second homer of the game in the ninth, a solo shot and his tenth of the season to cut the final score to 12-3.

The Mud Hens will look to bounce back and take the advantage in the series at 7:15 p.m. tomorrow behind ace lefthander Jose Alvarez.
