Midland RockHounds News Release

That's "gone" times THIRTEEN, the number of home runs the Tulsa Drillers and RockHounds have combined to hit in the first two games of their three-game series at ONEOK Field in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thursday, the clubs waited out a two-hour rain delay before throwing the first pitch at 9:15, but that didn't slow down the home run onslaught.

Jayson Langfels hit the game's first home run, with a man on in the second, giving the Drillers a 2-0 lead. The RockHounds rallied back to tie and take the lead with Davis Freitas hitting a pair of solo home runs ... his second and third of the series. Jake Goebbert then capped a four-run RockHounds fifth inning with a three-run homer, landing well beyond the right field wall and grass berm, giving the 'Hounds a 6-2 lead.

Kiel Roling erased that deficit with one swing, tying the game in the last of the fifth on his second homer run of the series, a Grand Slam.

The score stayed tied at 6-6 until the last of the eighth, when Angelys Nina took Murphy Smith's first pitch out to right-center. The ball barely eluded Goebbert, who tumbled over the four-foot high fence and into the Tulsa bullpen trying to deny Nina.

South Division

The three other South Division teams were winners, so Corpus Christi leads Frisco by two games, San Antonio by three and the 'Hounds now six games back. There are 25 games remaining in the first half pennant race.

Kibbles & Bits

- Of the 13 runs scored Thursday night ... twelve came via home runs.

- Chad Oberacker had a two-hit game, and has now hit in 11-of-13-games (.373).

- D'Arby Myers, the team's hottest hitter of late, was a late scratch from Wednesday's line-up with a sore hip. D'Arby, who was available for duty but did not play Thursday, is 17-for-37 (.460) in his last nine games and 15-for-30 (.500) in his last seven.

- The RockHounds have placed infielder Miles Head on the disabled list with a strained left shoulder. The injury dates back to the 2012 Arizona Fall League, when Miles was limited to just one game. Infielder Michael Fabiaschi has been activated from the D-L.

- The RockHounds will face another former big leaguer Friday when Roy Oswalt makes his first start for Tulsa. The former Houston Astros and Philadelphia Phillies star also signed a minor league deal with the Rockies, and is expected to make as many as five starts for Tulsa. One of those would likely be at Citibank Ballpark (details ASAP).

- The RockHounds ... in the midst of playing 14-of-18 games on the road ... play at Tulsa Friday evening (7:05) before traveling on to Springfield, Missouri, for a three-game set with the Cardinals (Saturday-Monday).
