Blades Seek To Advance Against Winterhawks
May 22, 2013 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
The Saskatoon Blades control their own destiny tonight as they play the Portland Winterhawks in the biggest game of their 2012-13 season.
With a win tonight in the final round robin game of the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup, the Blades will advance straight to the event's final game. That goes on Sunday night here in Saskatoon.
With a loss tonight against the Winterhawks, the Blades will face an uphill battle which would include playing in tomorrow's tie-breaker game against the London Knights. That would also mean that Saskatoon would be forced to win 3 games in 4 nights in order to win the 2013 MasterCard Memorial Cup (the tie-breaker, the semi-final, then the final).
The Blades will be looking for a big and loud crowd to help push them over the top. Their last game was a big win over the Halifax Mooseheads on Sunday night, where the crowd was a big factor. The players are hoping for that again tonight.
