ROUND ROCK, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced Tuesday that the contract of LHP Neal Cotts was purchased while RHP Joshin Lindblom and catcher Robinson Chirinos has been optioned back to Triple-A Round Rock.
Cotts was a fixture in the E-Train bullpen, leading the pitching staff with 42 strikeouts on the season. The southpaw has held opponents scoreless for 19.2 consecutive innings before the promotion, allowing runs in just one appearance this season (April 10 vs. Iowa).
Lindblom was promoted on Monday and started that night for the Rangers against the Oakland Athletics. The right-hander lasted 4.2 innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts but suffered the loss in his first major league start.
