Rochester Red Wings News Release
GAME NOTES:
-THE LEAD: Jason Bourgeois' two-run single in the 7th inning snapped a 6-6 tie and Tim Beckham's 2-run homer in the 9th put the game away spoiling Chris Colabello's 3-for-4, 2 home run, 5 RBI night for the Wings.
-Colabello joins Jeff Clement and Clete Thomas as the only Red Wings with multi-HR games this season... It was Colabello's 2nd 2-homer game in his career and first since April 17, 2011... The 10 total bases sets a new career-high for the Wings first baseman (previous high was 8)... Colabello raised his average to .340 and has now knocked in 29 runs on the season. He has hit in 7 straight and 16 of his last 17 games and has 4 multi-hit games in his last 5 starts (10-for-18; 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 6 RBI).
-Eric Farris extended his season-long hit streak to 9 games with a single in the 4th inning... He's now hitting .355 (11-for-31) over his streak as he's raised his average 43 points from .193 to .237 on the year... Farris will have a chance at the first 10-game streak by a Red Wings player this season on Thursday.
-Eric Fryer's solo home run to lead off the 5th inning was his first since June 7, 2011 with Indianapolis... The home run was Fryer's first hit since April 30 and snapped an 0-for-17 skid... Doug Bernier ended an even longer drought with a home run in the 9th inning his first since June 22, 2010 with Indianapolis... He now has 2 homers in 1,000 International League at bats.
-Caleb Thielbar worked 2.0 scoreless innings of relief behind Cole De Vries on Wednesday, extending his scoreless streak to 10.1 innings since allowing 5 runs on 5 hits in 0.1 innings on 4/25 at Syracuse.
-With the loss, the Wings have dropped 6 of 7 and have fallen to 10 games under .500 for the first time since May 28, 2012.
