Augusta GreenJackets Sale Completed to Local and Regional Group

May 13, 2013 - South Atlantic League (SAL1)
Augusta GreenJackets News Release

The sale between Ripken Baseball and Agon Sports & Entertainment has been completed and approved by the South Atlantic League, Minor League Baseball and Major League Baseball. Now the new era of GreenJackets baseball begins.

The team's sale to Agon Sports & Entertainment includes several Augusta, Atlanta and South Carolina based investors. This is the first time this century the club has had local and regional ownership.

"We are very excited that the day has arrived, this is an exciting day for the community and the future of baseball in the region. Having an ownership group with deep local and regional ties helps cement that bond. Now the focus is on us enhancing the fan experience as well as securing a long term regional home for the team", said Jeff Eiseman, President of Agon Sports & Entertainment and the Augusta GreenJackets. "I have been deeply involved with the team and the community for the past seven years. I love the area; have a residence in the area as well as many dear friends here. Baseball brings the community together like no other sport. As the caretakers for this great pastime in Augusta we do not take that role lightly, we want to be an ongoing source of pride and enhance the previous efforts of making the CSRA a great place to live, work and play."

The GreenJackets are members of the South Atlantic League, currently playing their 26th season in Augusta and celebrating 25 years of operation. "The South Atlantic League is excited about the new ownership in Augusta and the vision the ownership has and is thrilled with the significant number of local investors who are involved. The league thanks Ripken Baseball for their excellent stewardship of the Augusta franchise, and knowing that Jeff Eiseman will continue on as part of the new ownership and direction of the franchise brings great comfort to the league that this organization is in great hands" said, Eric Krupa, South Atlantic League President.

General Manager, Bob Flannery added, "I am truly thrilled about the future and direction of the team. Many times when teams are sold there are philosophical differences, in this instance the transition is one where the vision is shared by staff, management and ownership and the resources to help us fulfill that vision have been constant. That vision is one that put the fans first; the future of this team has never been brighter."

The Augusta GreenJackets are the Single-A affiliate of the "World Champion" San Francisco Giants. For ticket and group plan information call 706-736-7889.
