New Britain, CT - The Rock Cats came from behind to beat the Portland Sea Dogs 5-4 on Saturday night at New Britain Stadium. 1B Curt Smith blasted a 2-run home run over the centerfield fence in the 8th inning off reliever Miguel Celestino giving the Rock Cats their first lead of the game. The Rock Cats have won six of their last seven games.

The Rock Cats trailed 4-1 going to the 6th inning when former Red Sox pitcher Daniel Bard walked the bases loaded and then walked in the second run for New Britain. Bard also threw two wild pitches in the frame.

New Britain then scored the third run on a ground out in the 8th inning to make it 4-3. Dan Rohlfing then ripped a 2-out double and Smith followed with his third homer of the season. "I was just looking for a pitch to make a good swing on" said Smith. The Curacao-native went on to say that he was happy to contribute in a big game against a strong team like the first-place Sea Dogs.

The Rock Cats and Sea Dogs wrap up the four game in three day series on Sunday at 1:35. Logan Darnell will start for the Rock Cats against Anthony Renaudo who will pitch for Portland.
