Chattanooga Lookouts News Release

The Los Angeles Dodgers have sent another of their golden arms to the Chattanooga Lookouts, and his arrival was a resounding success Saturday at AT&T Field.

Right-hander Ross Stripling, promoted from Advanced Class A Rancho Cucomonga in time to make Saturday's start, allowed only five hits and one run (earned) over six innings to defeat the Mobile Bay Bears 4-1 in the finale of their five-game series. The Dodgers' fifth-round pick only last June, the former Texas A&M All-America struck out eight and walked but one in his Double-A debut.

Yimi Garcia worked the ninth inning in 1-2-3 form to provide Stripling with his third overall win of the season against zero losses. It was Garcia's ninth save of the season as Lookouts closer.

The Lookouts' offense, as has often been the case lately, relied on Joc Peterson to jump-start the scoring. Peterson, who was 3-for-5 Saturday, has five multi-hit games this week and has raised his Southern League-leading average to a smoking .346. But Saturday, the long ball came into play in a big way, as Brian Calvazos-Galvez hit his first of the year in the second inning, a solo shot, and Gorman Erickson closed out the night's scoring with another solo blast in the eighth. It was the catcher's third of the season.

Yasiel Puig had a single, double and RBI as well for the Lookouts, who begin a five-game series in Pensacola Sunday afternoon at 5 p.m. They return to AT&T Field Friday for a five-game series with the Tennessee Smokies.
