May 6, 2013 - International League (IL1)
Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

The Boston Red Sox today placed right-hander Andrew Bailey on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to April 29) with a right biceps strain. To fill his spot on the 25-man roster, left-hander Craig Breslow was activated from the disabled list.

Executive Vice President/General Manager Ben Cherington made the announcement.

Bailey, 28, is 1-0 with five saves and a 1.46 ERA (2 ER/12.1 IP) in 13 outings for the Red Sox this season, including 11 scoreless appearances. He ranks sixth among American League relief pitchers with 20 strikeouts and places fifth among qualifying AL relievers with 14.59 strikeouts per nine innings. He last pitched on April 28 with a scoreless ninth inning against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park.

The 32-year-old Breslow began the season on the 15-day disabled list due to left shoulder tendinitis. He made five appearances on a rehab assignment, including a 2.45 ERA (1 ER/3.2 IP) with four strikeouts in four games with Triple-A Pawtucket after his first rehab outing for Double-A Portland. Breslow went 1-0 with a 2.70 ERA (6 ER/20.0 IP) in 23 outings for the Red Sox in 2012 after being acquired from the Arizona Diamondbacks last July 31. He is available for tonight's game against the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park.
