Tucson defeats Salt Lake

The Tucson Padres rallied for seven runs in the fifth and sixth innings to defeat the Salt Lake Bees 9-3 Saturday at Spring Mobile Ballpark. The win ended the Padres five-game losing streak.

Luis Rodriguez put the Bees ahead in the first inning with a sacrifice fly to left. After both teams scored in the fourth, the Padres took a 4-2 lead in the fifth on Daniel Robertson's sacrifice fly and Brandon Allen's two-run triple past a diving Trent Oeltjen in center field. Dean Anna extended Tucson's lead to 6-2 with a two-run single in the sixth.

The Padres added two more runs in the inning on Travis Buck's RBI single and James Darnell's RBI groundout. Gregorio Petit's two-out double off the top of the left-field fence scored Darnell for the Padres final run. Jimmy Swift launched his second home run of the year in the ninth, but Tucson reliever Nick Vincent was able to get the final three outs to seal the win.

Jorge Reyes improved to 3-0 on the season after tossing 3.2 shutout innings in relief. Eddie Bonnie started the game for Tucson pitching three plus innings with two runs, three hits and six walks. Former Tucson Padre Kip Wells was charged with the loss after yielding three runs on four hits and five walks in four innings of work. The teams combined to walk 17 batters.
