Perez Blast Sends Lancaster To Fifth Straight LossMay 4, 2013 - Atlantic League (AtL) - Lancaster Barnstormers Press Release
Lancaster now trails the Skeeters by six games in the Freedom Division. The Barnstormers have dropped eight of their last nine games.
Michael Rockett led off the bottom of the sixth with a single off Derrick Loop (0-2). Loop struck out lefty swinging Travis Scott but walked Anthony Granato to bring the go-ahead run to the plate. Perez took him out of the yard for the 5-4 lead the Skeeters never lost.
Roy Corcoran (3-0), who struck out Tsuyoshi Takashim to end the top of the sixth, survived two seventh inning walks and earned the win. Gary Majewski and Jason Bergmann both pitched a perfect inning to nail down Sugar Land's 13th win in 15 tries.
The Skeeters jumped ahead in the third on a solo homer by Chase Lambin, a double by Aaron Bates and an RBI single by Josh Pressley.
Lancaster would score the next four runs on the night. Olmo Rosario led off the fourth with a double, took third on a ground out and scored on a single by Travis Denker. Kevin Howard then raked a double to score Denker, tying the game.
Jerry Owens triggered a two-out uprising in the fifth with a single. He stole second, and Rosario walked. Blake Gailen put the Barnstormers in the lead with an RBI base hit.
Ryan Harvey capped Lancaster's scoring with a solo homer, his second of the week, in the sixth.
The two clubs wrap up the series at 1:35 CDT Sunday afternoon. Will Savage (2-0) will make the start for Lancaster against RHP Michael Nix, who will make a spot start for Sugar Land.
