Two Rogues Receive Honors

MEDFORD, OR - The Medford Rogues are proud to pass along the announcement of multiple honors for 2013 Rogues first baseman Matt Page and catcher Mason Ankeney, both juniors at Oklahoma Baptist University. Both were named to the first team of the NAIA Division I Sooner Athletic Conference while Page was also named the SAC's Player of the Year. In addition, Ankeney won the conference Gold Glove at the catcher position.

Page, who currently leads all of college baseball with 81 RBI, finished the season with a .396 average and 15 home runs. With an additional 44 walks, Page finished the year with an on-base percentage of .517 and played in 58 games.

Ankeney played in 56 games and finished the year at .337 with two home runs and 44 RBI. In 274 chances as a catcher, Ankeney made only two errors on the season.

"With the season coming fast, it's great to see our guys doing so well and getting this recognition," Rogues General Manager Chuck Heeman said. "We're counting on Matt and Mason to be a part of what we see as a very successful first year. All of us at the Rogues couldn't be prouder."

Both are expected to be in Medford in time for the Rogues' WCL opening game on June 5 at Harry & David Field against the Bellingham Bells.

The West Coast League is an 11-team collegiate wood-bat baseball league composed of the best college players, coaches, facilities and operators in the industry. Ranging from Medford, Oregon north to Kelowna, B.C., the league has operated as the WCL since 2005. In 2012, a league record 57 WCL players were selected in the Major League draft.
