Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- A three-run 1st inning proved the difference Saturday, as the Durham Bulls prevailed in Pawtucket for the first time since 2011, defeating the PawSox, 4-1, before a paid crowd of 3,867 at McCoy Stadium.

The first three batters in the game reached and scored against Terry Doyle (L, 2-2), making his sixth start for Pawtucket. Rich Thompson and Jason Bourgeois each singled, Will Myers walked and Leslie Anderson flared a two-run double that landed on the left-field line. Durham made it 3-0 on a throwing error by Doyle.

The PawSox scored their lone run when Brandon Snyder belted his sixth homer off the Bulls' J.D. Martin in the 2nd inning. But Martin (W, 3-1) recovered to retire the next six and 12 of the next 13 batters.

Meanwhile, Doyle settled down, combining with relievers Craig Breslow and Oscar Villareal to preserve the two-run margin before Pawtucket threatened in its half of the 7th.

After Snyder singled and Jeremy Hazelbaker walked, Brock Holt lined a single to left field. Durham's Rich Thompson unleashed a one-hop throw to the plate, retiring Snyder with the final out of the inning.

Durham added another run, thanks to an RBI single by Bourgeois off Pedro Beato, in the 9th inning. Josh Leuke (S, 6) recorded the final six outs en route to the save.
