Rancho Cucamonga Quakes News Release

San Jose, CA - The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes overcame four errors on Friday night, defeating the San Jose Giants to earn their second straight road victory, 6-3 at San Jose Municipal Stadium.

Scott Schebler had the game-winning hit, as his RBI single snapped a 3-3 tie in the eighth, as the Quakes evened their record at .500, winning consecutive road games for the first time this year.

Tied at 3-3 in the eighth, Schebler laced a single into center field, scoring Angelo Songco to put the Quakes up 4-3 against San Jose reliever Bryce Bandilla (0-3). Ryan Mount, who had a big game with three hits, followed with a two-run double to give Rancho some cushion at 6-3.

Dan Coulombe worked a scoreless eighth and Michael Thomas retired three of the four men he faced in the ninth to earn his league-leading ninth save of the year.

The four errors led to all three San Jose runs, as the Giants took advantage of one of the four in the first, taking a 1-0 lead.

That lead stood until the fourth, when the Quakes finally broke through on Giants' starter Chris Marlowe. With two on and two away, Schebler ripped a triple down the right-field line, plating both O'Koyea Dickson and Songco, giving the Quakes a 2-1 lead.

Jonathan Garcia extended the lead in the sixth, taking Kelvin Marte deep to left for his fourth homer of the year, making it a 3-1 game.

The Giants again capitalized on Rancho mistakes in the field, as two unearned runs crossed the plate in the sixth to tie the game at 3-3.

Quakes' starter James Campbell was brilliant in five innings, allowing just one unearned run on only two hits, retiring 12 straight hitters at one point in the no-decision.

Freddie Cabrera (2-0) earned his second win in just three appearances since joining the Quakes, firing an inning of scoreless relief.

The Quakes (14-14) will look for a season-high third straight road win on Saturday evening, sending Garrett Gould (0-2) to the mound against San Jose lefty Adalberto Mejia (2-0). Game time on Saturday from San Jose will be 5:00pm.

After the completion of this seven-game road trip, the Quakes will return to LoanMart Field on Tuesday, May 7th, as they host the Inland Empire 66ers for a brief three-game series.
