Huge Skeeter Inning Sends Stormers To Fourth Straight Loss

Lancaster Stormers News Release

The Lancaster Barnstormers have run into a "buzz"saw this week.

On Friday evening, the Sugar Land Skeeters scored 10 runs in the bottom of the third to cruise to a 12-2 victory, their fourth straight over the visiting 'Stormers at Constellation Field.

The loss, the seventh in the last eight games for Lancaster, dropped the Barnstormers five games out of first in the Freedom Division's first half.

Lancaster jumped ahead, 1-0, on Joe Mather's leadoff home run in the top of the third. Then disaster struck.

Lenny DiNardo (1-2), who had survived leadoff singles in each of the first two innings, gave up another, this time to Dominic Ramos, in the third. Ramos stole second and advanced to third when Adam Godwin reached on an error by shortstop Kevin Howard. Godwin stole second, and Chase Lambin knocked in both runs with a single. Steve Moss added a single, and Koby Clemens doubled home Lambin for a 3-1 lead. Dustin Martin knocked in two more with a base hit and eventually rode home on a triple by Fernando Perez. Perez, in turn, came across on a single by Anthony Granato to make it 7-1.

Ramos came through with his second hit of the inning, and a walk to Godwin reloaded the bases. Moss singled home two additional runs while another scored on a pop fly to second baseman Olmo Rosario.

Bobby Livingston (1-1) allowed two runs on seven hits over five innings to earn the win. Both Lancaster runs were driven in by Mather, who also doubled home a run in the fourth.

The teams continue the series Saturday evening at 7:05 EDT. Alan Johnson (0-1) will take the hill for the Barnstormers against right-hander Sean Gallagher.
