Bridgewater, NJ- The Somerset Patriots defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish 3-1 at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday evening.
Somerset scored first in the bottom of the third on a two run single by Josh Kroeger to make the score 2-0.
Luis Montanez tacked on another run for the Patriots the following inning on a sacrifice fly to right for the 3-0 lead.
Alexis Gomez (1) got Bridgeport on the board in the top of the sixth after driving a solo homerun over the left field wall.
Patriots star Mitch Atkins (3-0) got the win after allowing a run and striking out eight in six innings of work. Michael Colla (1-1) suffered the loss for Bridgeport, allowing three runs on four hits in seven innings pitched. Jon Hunton came on to pitch the ninth for Somerset and pick up his fifth save of the season.
The 2013 Somerset Patriots season presented by Ford at TD Bank Ballpark on Saturday night when the Patriots take on the Bridgeport Bluefish at 7:05 pm.
