Captains and Chiefs Suspended on Thursday Night

Lake County Captains News Release
(PEORIA, IL) - The Lake County Captains and Peoria Chiefs ballgame was suspended in the bottom of the eighth inning. Lake County leads the ballgame 3-2 but Peoria has the tying run on first base and a 3-0 count on Jacob Wilson. The game will be picked up on Friday before the regular scheduled contest starting at 12:00 PM. After the suspend
Erik Gonzalez hit a one out triple with Jeremy Lucas on second base in the top of the eighth inning. Lucas scored and the Captains had the 3-2 lead.
The Captains got a run on the board in the first inning. With two outs, Logan Vick doubled and then raced home on an RBI single by Joe Sever. It was 1-0 Captains headed to the bottom of the first. In the bottom half of the frame, The Chiefs took the lead. Peoria saw Charlie Tilson and Alex Mejia hit lead off singles and then both runners were sacrificed into scoring position. Patrick Wisdom doubled both runners home and it was a 2-1 Chiefs lead. Lake County tied the ballgame on an RBI groundout by Jorge Martinez in the top of the second inning. The score was 2-2.
RHP Jake Sisco (0-2) started the ballgame for the Captains and did not get a decision. Sisco went six innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits, and two walks. He struck out three. DJ Brown (1-0) entered the ballgame in the bottom of the seventh inning and pitched until the rain delay. Brown struck out two in his inning plus of work.
LHP Hector Hernandez (1-1) got the nod for Peoria and did not get a decision. Hernandez pitched six innings and scattered six hits, he allowed two earned runs, three walks and he struck out four. Dixon Llorens (1-2) got the loss for the Chiefs after pitching two innings and allowing one hit, one earned run and three walks. He also struck out three.
The Captains will stay in Peoria for the third and final game of the series on Friday afternoon. Lake County will start RHP Dylan Baker (0-2, 4.95) and Peoria will counter with RHP Kurt Heyer (1-0, 1.62). First pitch is at 12:00 PM.
