Revs Grab Late Lead, Salvage Series FinaleMay 2, 2013 - Atlantic League (AtL) York Revolution
Andy Gonzalez broke a 4-4 deadlock with an RBI double off the top of the left field Arch Nemesis in the bottom of the seventh giving York the lead. Salvador Paniagua added the insurance with a two-run double down the left field line, providing breathing room as well as the final margin of victory.
York 's bullpen made the lead stand, as Stephen Penney (1-1) earned the win with a scoreless seventh, Rommie Lewis struck out the side in the eighth, and Juan Rincon claimed his second save with a perfect ninth.
Camden took an early lead with two runs in the top of the first. Paddy Matera, the second batter of the game, homered to left field for the first run, his third long ball of the season and second of the series. Three consecutive singles would follow, the last of which came from Burt Reynolds who drove in the second run, spotting the Sharks a quick 2-0 advantage.
The Revs responded with two in the second on an RBI double to right-center from Johan Limonta, and an RBI single to center by Jeff Fiorentino, tying the score at 2-2. Andres Perez then led off the bottom of the third with a line drive home run to left-center, and Limonta would later rip an RBI single to left, giving York a 4-2 lead at the end of three.
Matera slapped an RBI double to right in the fourth inning, and former Revs outfielder Chris Walker singled up the middle to drive home the tying run in the sixth inning, evening things at 4-4.
Camden reliever Armando Gabino (0-2) was charged with the loss, tagged with all three runs in the seventh inning, after previously working 2.2 scoreless frames to hold the Revs in check.
York 's 14 hits were one short of a season-high. Paniagua (2-for-4) doubled twice, and is now 10-for-23 (.435) on a five-game hitting streak. Gonzalez (2-for-4) is now 7-for-14 over his last four games. Limonta (3-for-5) posted his third three-hit game of the young season. Marte (2-for-5) notched his sixth multi-hit contest. Burgamy (2-for-4) scored twice, increasing his league-leading runs total to 13, while drawing his league-leading 15th walk.
York 's Nick Green (0-0, 3.60) will face Long Island's Nick DeBarr (0-1, 4.36) in Friday's series opener at 6:30 p.m. on a Flat Screen Friday at Sovereign Bank Stadium. Tickets are available at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the Apple Chevrolet Ticket Office.
