Today's Game:

The Buffalo Bisons host the Pawtucket Red Sox in the finale of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (6:05 p.m.). The teams split a doubleheader on Thursday, giving the Herd a 2-1 series edge of the PawSox. On Saturday, the Bisons start for a four-game set in Rochester.

Bisons vs. PawSox

With a 2-1 series edge, the Bisons can earn their first home four-game series win over Pawtucket since taking three of four at Coca-Cola Field, July 28-31, 2009. The Bisons have not won a season series over Pawtucket since going 10-6 vs. the PawSox for three straight years, 2006-2009.

What Brown does for us

With one more win, MARTY BROWN (252) will tie Buffalo Baseball Hall of Famer Brian Graham for the most managerial wins in the Bisons modern era. Brown won 238 games and two division titles with the Herd, 2003-05.

Winning Ways

The Bisons have another crack at moving 10-games over the .500-mark for the first time since August 28, 2010. The Bisons had three cracks at 10-games over last year by lost each time.

Homering Herd

Along with the International League's top batting average (.316), Buffalo has also hit more home runs (22) than any IL club. Three players are tied for the team lead with four, INF LUIS JIMENEZ, INF MAURO GOMEZ and INF ANDY LaROCHE. The club hit four solo home runs Thursday.

Know the Zone

The Bisons have six players on their roster with at least as many walks as strikeouts this year. The best ratio belongs to INF JIM NEGRYCH who has seven free passes to only five punchouts. As a team, Buffalo has struck out only 102 times, 35 fewer than any other IL club.

Vargas

After three solid road starts, RHP CLAUDIO VARGAS will finally make his Coca-Cola Field debut tonight. The veteran has allowed just one run in each of his outings with a 1.59 ERA that is 5th-best in the International League. Vargas has allowed 14 hits with 13 strikeouts.

Bisons Bits

INF JIM NEGRYCH'S .460 batting average is 38 points better than any IL batter...INF MAURO GOMEZ (.791) has passed Negrych (.720) with the top slugging percentage in the league.

Toronto (8-14) lost to the Yankees, 5-3, on Thursday in the first of a four-game set. INF EDWIN ENCARNACION and INF BRETT LAWRIE each homered. Former Bisons' ace LHP AARON LAFFEY will start for the Blue Jays tonight in New York (7:05 p.m.)
