Santa Cruz Warriors Drop Game One of the NBA D-League Finals

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers 112-102 Thursday night, dropping the first game of the best-of-three championship series.

Santa Cruz was led by Travis Leslie, who scored 19 points. Scott Machado scored 16, while Stefhon Hannah had 12 points and five assists.

The Vipers were paced by Toure Murry, who had a triple-double with 17 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Glen Rice, Jr. scored a game-high 33 points and had 10 rebounds, while Chris Daniels also logged a double-double with 16 points and 10 boards.

There were 10 lead changes in the game. The Warriors were ahead by as much as 10 late in the first quarter and ended the half ahead by three. After trading buckets for most of the third quarter, Rio Grande Valley started the fourth on a 12-1 run. A Jeremy Tyler layup shot with 1:34 left in the game tied it up at 102, but the Vipers went on a 10-0 run to seal the victory.

Santa Cruz outshot Rio Grande Valley (44.9%-42.2%) and dished out more assists (23-22), but the Vipers grabbed more rebounds (57-44), had more points in the paint (52-50) and second chance points (24-18).

The NBA D-League Finals will now shift to McAllen, Texas, with game two set for Saturday at 5:00 p.m. Pacific time. The game will be broadcast on a five-hour tape delay on CBS Sports Network (aired at 10:00 p.m. Pacific time), but fans can listen to the game live on KION 1460AM/101.1FM or stream it on iHeartRadio.
