Chicago Fire Defender Wells Thompson Suspended by MLS Disciplinary Committee

CHICAGO, Ill. (April 25, 2013) - The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced Thursday that defender Wells Thompson has been suspended one game and fined an undisclosed amount for his challenge on Columbus Crew midfielder AgustÃ-n Viana in the 12th minute of the match on Saturday, April 20. Thompson was issued a yellow card on the play, and the Committee unanimously determined that additional sanction was warranted.
Thompson will serve his suspension this Saturday when the Fire travel to face the Montreal Impact at Stade Saputo at 3:00 p.m. CT (NBC Sports Network/107.9 La Ley).
Fines collected will be donated to the charitable partners of MLS W.O.R.K.S. and the MLS Players Union.
