Altoona Curve News Release

CURVE, Pa. - After capping the first homestand of the season with two wins in one day on April 17, the Curve return to Peoples Natural Gas Field on Friday April 26 for a seven-game homestand. The second set of home games includes a pair of fireworks nights, the 1000th regular-season home game in franchise history, a second Youth Baseball Clinic, a batting glove giveaway for kids and a night to hopefully help you cure your case of the Mondays.

Everything gets started on Friday April 26, when the Curve begin a three-game series against the Erie SeaWolves, affiliates of the Detroit Tigers. Friday night's game features postgame Fireworks that will light up the Altoona spring sky. CORE Organ Donation Night is also this Friday. Fans can receive information about becoming an organ donor as well as talk with both organ donors and recipients.

College Night kicks off the homestand on Friday night as well. Students and Faculty members can receive a $5 grandstand ticket when they present their college ID at the box office prior to the game. Groups of 15 or more will be recognized on the video board during the game. For more information on College Night, fans can call 877-99-CURVE.

Since it's a Friday night home game in Curve, Pa. we'll have another T.G.I. Friday's Mug Club Night at the ballpark. The first 250 fans 21 & up will receive a mug club mug when they exit the ballpark. Fans can also head down to T.G.I. Friday's on Plank Road following the game and meet two Curve players who will be signing autographs for one hour at the Extra Innings Party.

Saturday features another one of the famous Curve, Pa. postgame Fireworks shows. It is also World War II History Night, and Home Builders Night. A World War II historical reenactment group from the Blair County Historical Society will be performing prior to the game and following the game prior to the fireworks show. There will also be World War II veterans on hand who will participate in a special honor guard with the re-enactors. The performances are part of World War II history weekend in Altoona with reenactments and events at Baker Mansion grounds on Saturday and Sunday.

Barring any rainouts, the 1000th regular-season home game in franchise history will take place on Saturday night with the SeaWolves in town. The first home game was played on April 15, 1999 and the team has played 998 regular-season home games entering the series with Erie. The Curve have some special things planned for Saturday night's 1000th regular season home game including a poster giveaway to the first 1,000 fans sponsored by ThePrinters.com, a Video Board recognition of the Top 10 moments at Peoples Natural Gas Field, and a salute to season ticket holder Susan Mielnik for attending all 1000 regular season home games.

The fun continues early Sunday morning with the second of three Youth Baseball Clinics where the area youth can come learn baseball fundamentals from Curve players and coaches. The clinic is free for all kids who have a ticket to the game and runs from 10 a.m.-noon with registration beginning at 9 a.m.

As an added bonus, all kids that attend the clinic on Sunday will receive the Youth Batting Glove giveaway for attending the clinic. The Curve batting glove set will then be distributed to the first 1,000 youngsters 14 & under once gates open thanks to UPMC Health Plan.

The Friday-Sunday games are also Steamer Student All-Stars games. Students receive two tickets to one of these three games based on a recommendation from their teachers. These select students will be recognized on the field prior to the game for their excellence in the classroom.

Kids can run the bases following the home games on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

The Akron Aeros, affiliates of the Cleveland Indians, make their first trip Peoples Natural Gas Field beginning a four-game series at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Monday night will be a Mirror Monday courtesy of the Altoona Mirror. Monday night's contest features a special Case of the Mondays promotion. That's right, we're paying tribute to the cult classic Office Space, which was released just a few months before the Curve played their first game in 1999. As already detailed in an earlier release, there will be plenty of Office Space related games and promotions going on during the game. Fans should also prepare for a heavy dose of Michael Bolton music and Kung Fu for Monday night's game.

Tuesday night is a Two-for-Tuesday presented by Atlantic Broadband. Fans can get two-for-one offers on tickets to tonight's game, hot dogs, and small popcorns thanks to Atlantic Broadband.

Wednesday is a 4-Pack Wednesday presented by WALY 103.9. Fans can take advantage of an offer for the whole family and receive four tickets, four hot dogs, and four regular sodas, all for just $35.
