Seven Run Sixth Sinks Captains

Lake County Captains News Release
(Comstock Park, MI) - The West Michigan Whitecaps (8-9) had a seven run bottom of the sixth inning to defeat the Lake County Captains (6-13) by a final of 10-1. In the inning West Michigan used five hits, including a bases loaded triple by Danry Vasquez. It was Vasquez's fourth hit of the game and his fourth RBI. The Whitecaps won the series.
The Captains got on the board first. With two outs in the second inning, Logan Vick singled home Leonardo Castillo and the Captains led 1-0. West Michigan took the lead with a three run bottom of the third inning. Vasquez knocked in his first run with a base hit and then Jeff Holm tripled home two and it was 3-1 Whitecaps.
The Captains sent RHP Joe Colon (0-1) to the hill to start the ballgame. Colon took the loss. Joe pitched five innings and allowed six hits, three earned runs, he walked one and struck out seven. Luis Morel entered the game in relief and pitched three innings. Morel allowed seven runs, five were earned on six hits. Morel walked two and struck out one batter.
West Michigan started the RHP Edgar De La Rosa (0-1). De La Rosa did not get a decision. He pitched four innings allowing one earned run and four hits. Josh Turley (3-1) got the win Turley pitched two scoreless innings and fanned three. The whitecaps bullpen did not allow a run.
The Captains will return home on Thursday Night to take on the Clinton LumberKings. Clinton will be making their only trip to Classic Park in two seasons. The Captains will start RHP Mitch Brown (1-1, 11.17) and Clinton will counter with RHP Victor Sanchez (0-0, 0.00).
Thursday night is Thirsty Thursday, presented by ESPN 850 WKNR, featuring a 25-cent beer Happy Hour for one hour before game time and half-price draft beer and fountain soda until 9 PM. A wing and pizza buffet will also be available outside the Corona Castaways Bar, featuring Happy Moose Bar and Grill wing sauces and pizza from Cleveland Pizza Company. Game time is 6:30 PM.
Thursday is also Date Night, which provides couples with the opportunity to purchase two tickets to The Officer's Club Suite and enjoy a buffet dinner, a $56 value, for only $32.
