Devils Finish 2012-13 Season

ALBANY, NY -- Coming off wins Friday and Saturday, the Albany Devils could not complete the weekend sweep, falling to the Adirondack Phantoms, 4-2, Sunday at Times Union Center. The Devils conclude the season with a 31-32-1-12 record, while the Phantoms finish with a 31-38-3-4 mark.

Despite the loss, the Devils still captured the Time Warner Cable Cup this season with a 8-3-0-1 record against their Northway rival.

Harri Pesonen opened the scoring at 18:28 of the first. After receiving a pass from David Wohlberg, Damon Severson made a cross-ice pass from the top of the circle to Pesonen, who finished into a wide-open net.

Adirondack responded with four straight goals, including three in the second period. Marcel Noebels scored at 6:09 and Rob Bordson followed at 15:27. Before the end of the frame, Blake Kessel made the score 3-1 at 19:02.

In the third, Kessel netted his second goal, beating Keith Kinkaid at 3:02. Mike Hoeffel cut into the Phantoms lead at 16:18 scoring shorthanded off a feed from Tim Sestito.

Notes & Numbers

- Harri Pesonen closed out the season on a four game point streak. Including today's goal, he has two goals and two assists during the run. In 64 games, the rookie has registered 14 goals and 16 assists for 30 points.

- Damon Severson and David Wohlberg both assisted on Pesonen's tally. Severson, who joined Albany on Apr. 14, has a point in his two appearances, while Wohlberg has a point in three of the last four outings.

- Mike Hoeffel netted his fifth of the season and first career shorthanded goal.

- Keith Kinkaid made 13 saves on 17 shots before Scott Wedgewood completed the game. Wedgewood made all eight stops.
