Greenville Drive News Release

The offensive struggles continued for the Greenville Drive (7-10) on Saturday night, as they picked up just three hits in a 1-0 loss to the Lexington Legends (7-10). The only run on the evening came in the bottom of the third against Drive starter Justin Haley (0-2). Ethan Chapman doubled to left with two outs, and Raul Mondesi followed with a double to right field that plated Chapman. Lexington starter Daniel Stumpf (2-0) fired five shutout innings last weekend against the Drive, and he followed that up with five and a third shutout frames on Saturday. He allowed just two hits while walking four and striking out five. Alec Mills followed with three and two-thirds innings of relief, picking up his first save of the season and allowing just one hit while punching out six Drive hitters. Despite receiving the loss, Haley had a nice outing, throwing five innings and giving up just two hits, the lone run and one walk while striking out six. Jason Garcia came on in relief and struck out four batters in three innings. Chapman picked up two hits for Lexington. Weems had two of Greenville's three hits, while Drew Turocy had the other hit. The final game of the four-game series in Lexington is tomorrow afternoon at 1:35 PM. LHP Brian Johnson (0-1, 2.25) will start for the Drive, while the Legends will attempt to sweep the series as RHP Aroni Nina (0-1, 5.63) takes the mound.
