Mississippi Braves News Release

PEARL, MS -- With the Mississippi Braves and Jackson Generals tied at 4-4 in the top of the sixth, skies gave way to heavy rains and play was suspended. Play is set to resume at 5:30 PM Friday. Gates open at 5:00 PM. Friday night's regularly scheduled contest will start approximately 30 minutes following the completion of Thursday's game. Fans with tickets for tonight's game may exchange them for tickets to tomorrow's game.

The Generals jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the top of the first. Francisco Martinez reached on a single before Brad Miller launched a two-run homer to left field, his third long ball of the season.

Mississippi responded in the bottom of the frame. Christian Bethancourt reached on an error, Christian Marrero singled and Kyle Russell was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Luis Nunez then delivered a single to center, driving in two runs. Russell also came in to score on the play when the centerfielder, Francisco Martinez, bobbled the ball. Jaime Pedroza followed with a RBI-double to make it 4-2.

Jackson cut the M-Braves lead to 4-3 in the third. Leon Landry led off with a single to right field. He stole second and took third on a fly out to right before coming in to score on Miller's ground out to second.

With rains approaching, Jackson tied the game at 4-4 in the fifth. Gabriel Noriega and Abraham Almonte singled to put runners at the corners. Leon Landry then singled to drive in Noriega and tie the game.

John Hicks and James Jones started the Generals' sixth with back-to-back singles, putting runners at the corners before the rains arrived and play was suspended. Play will resume with Hicks and Jones at the corners Friday evening.

Following the completion of game four, the M-Braves and Generals will complete the series with game five Friday night. Right-hander Cody Martin (0-0, 5.87) counters Jackson lefty James Gillheeney (2-0, 0.00).
