Author of Bats Book to be Featured at Game

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - "Bats that Won't Break" is a chronicle of eight stories told by members of the 2012 Louisville Bats team and published in a book by Cory Collins of Vanceburg, Ky. Collins, a 2013 graduate of Transylvania University, will be on the concourse of Louisville Slugger Field at the Bats' Friday, April 19 game to greet fans, answer questions and sign copies of his book. A limited number of copies of the book will also be available for purchase. Gates for the game open at 5:30 p.m. with first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m.

The book features stories from current Louisville Bats catcher Corky Miller, outfielder Denis Phipps and pitching coach Ted Power. Former Bats outfielder Danny Dorn, pitcher Scott Carroll and manager David Bell are also highlighted. Head groundskeeper Tom Nielsen and radio broadcaster Matt Andrews also have their stories told.

The paperback book is available for purchase on Amazon.com for $29.50.

Collins, 22, has also written two novels, a feature-length screenplay and a novella. His play "Caroline," co-written with Cameron Lindsey, was produced in December 2011.
