St. John's IceCaps News Release
In their final stretch of games at Mile One Centre, the IceCaps went 2-1-1-0 to take five of a possible eight points. St.
John's swept division rival Portland in a pair of one-goal contests before running into a hot Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins squad. The defensively-stout Penguins shut down the IceCaps Saturday with a 3-0 win before riding the hot hand of Chad Kolarik -who had three goals and the game-winner in overtime - Sunday afternoon. The IceCaps finish the season with a 13-19-3-3 record on home ice and are 33-34-6-3 overall in two seasons at Mile One Centre.

The IceCaps edged the Portland Pirates 3-2 Tuesday night in the first of two meetings at Mile One Centre between the Atlantic Division rivals.
Mark Dekanich was the story for St. John's, making 30 saves and shutting the door on the Pirates in the closing minutes of regulation. Ray Sawada scored the winner midway through the third while Cody Sol and Josh Lunden added tallies for the home team.
Dekanich helped the IceCaps hold Portland's power play at bay, which went just 1-for-6 on the night. St. John's managed a goal on five opportunities with the man advantage.

The St. John's IceCaps held on to down the Portland Pirates 4-3 Wednesday night at Mile One Centre to sweep the two-game set.
Carl Klingberg's third period goal stood as the game- winner while Kael Mouillierat notched a goal and an assist to go along with a team-high six shots on net.
Vinny Saponari added his first pro goal and Jason Jaffray picked up his 15th of the season.
Mark Dekanich stood tall for the second consecutive game, making 28 saves for the victory. Ben Maxwell chipped in with a pair of assists.

The The St. John's IceCaps were shut out 3-0 by the visiting Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins Saturday night at Mile One Centre.
Jeff Zatkoff needed to make just 18 saves for the shutout, while Dominik Oher scored twice to pace the Penguins. Bobby Farnham added a pair of assists as the Penguins punched their ticket to the 2013 Calder Cup Playoffs with the win.
Mark Dekanich made 16 saves for St. John's while Eric O'Dell, Kael Mouillierat and Will O'Neill led the club with three shots apiece.

The IceCaps dropped a 5-4 overtime decision to the Wilkes- Barre/Scranton Penguins Sunday at Mile One Centre in the team's final home game of the 2012-13 season.
Despite a tremendous effort to win one final time for the home fans, St. John's fell just short in the end. Chad Kolarik recorded a hat trick, including the game-winner in overtime, to aid the Penguins to victory.
Jason Jaffray was named first star of the game, notching three assists. Dean Arsene and Ben Maxwell each had a pair of helpers, while Will O'Neill, Josh Lunden, Julian Melchiori and Ray Sawada all scored for St. John's.
ICE-CAPSules
First Things Firsts: It was a week of firsts for several young IceCaps. On Tuesday, Cody Sol notched his first AHL goal, with Vinny Saponari picking up an assist for his first pro point. The following night, Saponari scored his first goal while Adam Lowry recorded his first point with an assist on that goal. Finally, Julian Melchiori sniped his first AHL goal in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Deadline Deal: The IceCaps made a move at the AHL's trade and loan deadline last Wednesday, acquiring C Mathieu Tousignant on loan from the Texas Stars. The 23-year-old played in both weekend games against the Penguins and made his presence felt in Friday's game with a fight against Zach Sill.
Chasing 30: Eric O'Dell's quest to become the IceCaps' first 30-goal scorer took a hit when he went scoreless in four games this past week. O'Dell sits at 28 goals with three games left to play, ranking ninth in AHL goal scoring and 18th in points with 53.
Jets Update: In wasn't a busy week for the Jets but it certainly was a successful one. Winnipeg defeated the Buffalo Sabres and Florida Panthers to keep pace in the Eastern Conference playoff race. Currently sitting ninth in the East, the Jets trail the New York Rangers by two points and the Southeast Division-leading Washington Capitals by four points with six games left in the regular season.
