Real Salt Lake News Release

VANCOUVER, BC (Sunday, April 13, 2013) - The Real Salt Lake Reserves (2-1-1, 7 points, West #1) lost its first game of the Reserve League season on Sunday, falling 2-0 to the Vancouver Whitecaps FC Reserves (1-0-0, 3 points, West #4) at UBC Thunderbird Stadium.

Goals in either half from DF Jordan Harvey and MF Erik Hurtado gave the 'Caps the victory.

Harvey put Vancouver on top in the 44th minute. FW Kekuta Manneh swung a free kick into the box to FW Tommy Heinemann, whose deflected header fell to Harvey, who slammed home from close range.

The Claret-and-Cobalt had a good chance to equalize in the 64th. MF Enzo Martinez wriggled free in the area and hit a hard shot on net that Vancouver GK Brad Knighton smartly saved.

Hurtado sealed the game for Whitecaps FC in the 85th minute, when he collected MF Matt Watson's long ball and beat two RSL defenders before coolly slotting home past Claret-and-Cobalt GK Josh Saunders.

RSL DF Chris Wingert played the full 90 minutes on Sunday. Wingert has yet to appear in a MLS regular season match while recovering from a right foot fracture suffered in December.
