Burlington Bees News Release

BELOIT, WI- Michael Bolaski hit a bases-loaded infield single in the top of the ninth inning to help give the Burlington Bees a 4-3 win over the Beloit Snappers on Thursday night at Pohlman Field. The Bees won back-to-back games for the first time this year and are over .500 for the first time in the season.

It was a rainy and cold night in Beloit, but Michael Bolaski continued his hot streak of coming through in the clutch, delivering the game-winning hit for the second game in a row. Bolaski stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and two outs in the ninth and perfectly placed a ball right up the middle to bring home Wendell Soto and give the Bees a one-run lead.

Jairo Diaz came on in the ninth and allowed a leadoff base hit, but after striking out Sam Roberts, the closer induced a line-drive double play from Phil Pohl to pick up his third save in as many chances. Kurt Spomer (1-0) pitched a scoreless eighth for his first win of the season.

Burlington (4-3) got on the board first on a bases-loaded walk by Michael Bolaski that brought home Kyle Johnson. Johnson finished the night 3-for-4 with one run and two RBIs, while Bolaski was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Bees added two more in the fourth on a two-run single by Johnson that scored Soto and Sherman Johnson.

Ryan Crowley fired four scoreless innings in his first start of the year, while Reid Scoggins allowed three unearned runs in three innings, while striking out five.

Friday night will feature a pitching matchup between Arjenis Fernandez and Seth Streich that is set to begin at 6:30 p.m in Beloit.
