Curve and Aeros Postponed on Wednesday Night
April 10, 2013 - Eastern League (EL1)
Altoona Curve News Release
Akron, Ohio- The Altoona Curve and Akron Aeros were posptponed due to rain at Canal Park on Wednesday evening, thus ending Altoona's season-opening road trip. The Curve and Aeros will make up the game at a later date that has yet to be determined.
Altoona (3-3) now returns home to Peoples Natural Gas Field for its official home opener against the Harrisburg Senators, which is slated for 6:30 p.m. Thursday night. The homestand gets going with BOpening Night as we pay tribute to beloved bat boy Robert "Bo" Forney who passed away earlier this year. Forney was a bat boy with the team since 2008 and Thursday night's home opener will celebrate his life and all that he reached.
The Forney family will be on hand to throw out a ceremonial first pitch and the bat boys will don their uniforms that have been newly affixed with a patch on the sleeve with a rendering of Bo's likeness. There will be an auction of signed game-used memorabilia from the Pirates-Curve game on March 30 that will benefit the American Heart Association in Forney's honor.
Thursday will also include the first giveaway of the 2013 season and the first of many awesome postgame fireworks displays in Curve, PA. The first 5,000 fans that make their way into Peoples Natural Gas Field will receive a 2013 Magnet Schedule giveaway thanks to Capital Contractors. Thirsty ThursdayTM is also back again in 2013 courtesy of Rocky 104.9 and will feature $2 Bud Light 16 oz. drafts and half-priced regular sodas for the home opener.
The Silver Steamers Club presented by Homewood Retirement Communities at Martinsburg & Everett will have their first of five games this season on Thursday when the 'Sens are in town. For more information on the club which is specifically designed for those 55 and over call 877-99-CURVE. Club benefits to the first 200 members that sign-up are a free t-shirt and a refillable coffee mug, good for $1 refills on coffee, soda, and hot chocolate at all Curve home games this season. In order to finish up the first home game of the season the right way the Kids will run the bases following the game.
Taking the mound for the Curve in their home opener will be RHP Casey Sadler (1-0, 1.80), who recorded the victory in his Double-A debut last Friday night in Erie. He'll be opposed by the Senators right-hander Paul Demny (1-0, 0.00) on Thursday night.
Airtime on ESPN Radio 1430 WVAM and the Curve Radio Network is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. For tickets and more information on the Curve homestand beginning tomorrow April 11, call 877-99-CURVE, visit AltoonaCurve.com or stop by the ticket windows at People's Natural Gas Field.
