(WHITAKER BANK BALLPARK, Lexington, Ky.) Matt Wessinger drove in two runs, one with a suicide squeeze bunt, as the Asheville Tourists led from the first inning on in a 6-1 victory over the Lexington Legends Wednesday.

The Tourists scored in the first when Kyle Von Tungeln walked, moved around to third on two ground balls to the infield, and then came home on a single by Francisco Sosa.

The Tourists added two more runs in the second inning. Drew Beuerlein led off with a double and moved to third on a one-out single by Julian Yan. Yan advanced to second on a throwing error by center fielder Bubba Starling as Beuerlein held at third. Michael Ramirez' single to center field scored both Beuerlein and Yan to give the Tourists a 3-0 lead.

Lexington scored its only run in the bottom of the third. Yowill Epsinal doubled with two outs and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Terrance Gore walked, and when Gore stole second base, Ramirez' throw went into center field for an error, allowing Espinal to score.

Asheville bunted its way to a run in the fifth. Ramirez was hit by a pitch. Juan Ciriaco beat out a bunt single, and Kyle Von Tungeln followed with a sacrifice bunt, advancing the runners to second and third.

With Wessinger at the plate, Ramirez broke for home on a pitch by Legends' starter Bryan Brickhouse. Wessinger was able to get a bunt down on the first base side of the mound, and Ramirez scored as Brickhouse tagged Wessinger.

Asheville added a run in the seventh on a double by Ciriaco and a single by Wessinger. The Tourists scored their final run in the eighth on a walk to Sosa, a stolen base, and a two-out single by Yan.

Tourists' starter T.J. Oakes (1-0) worked the first five innings and got the win. Brickhouse (0-2), who also pitched the first five innings, took the loss.

The Tourists took two out of three games in the series. The Legends and the Greenville Drive, an affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, will open a four-game series Thursday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
