Power Swept by Charleston

(Charleston, WV): The West Virginia Power were swept by the Charleston RiverDogs after a 12-5 loss Wednesday afternoon. The RiverDogs scored 11 runs in the seventh inning off three different Power pitchers.

West Virginia struck first with a four-run third inning. Dilson Herrera hit an RBI single, scoring Junior Sosa. Three pitches later, Josh Bell connected with a three-run home run, his first this year, scoring Herrera and Max Moroff.

Clay Holmes made his second start this season for the Power. The right-handed prospect tossed five innings of two hit ball, striking out two and walking four. For the second consecutive start, Holmes received a no-decision.

Charleston grabbed the lead in the seventh inning and never looked back. The RiverDogs plated 11 runs off of three different Power relievers. West Virginia committed four errors in the inning and Charleston sent 15 batters to the plate, collecting eight hits.

Stetson Allie went 1-4 with an RBI double that scored Bell in the eighth. With the hit, Allie extended his hitting streak to five games.

David Jagoditsh (0-1) took the loss for the Power after allowing five runs in the seventh. Alex Smith (2-0) received the win by tossing two innings of scoreless ball.

Thursday the Power hit the road for seven consecutive games. First, they travel to Asheville for a four-game series following by a three-game set at Greenville. First pitch for Thursday's game against the Tourists will be at 7:05.
