Pawtucket Red Sox News Release

MOOSIC, PA -- New England native Terry Doyle debuted for the organization he rooted for as a kid on Sunday by limiting Scranton-Wilkes Barre to but one hit, a bunt single, in 6.1 innings of a 6-2 victory for the Pawtucket Red Sox.

In becoming Pawtucket's first starter to go past the 5th inning, Doyle (1-0) overcame five walks and a hit batsmen, as the PawSox (4-0) completed a four-game series sweep of the New York Yankees' Triple-A affiliate. Overall, Pawtucket outscored its International League North rival in the set, 31-12.

Ryan Lavarnway led off the 2nd inning with a four-pitch walk, before advancing to second on a wild pitch. Two outs later, Mark Hamilton drilled a ground-rule double off the warning track just to the right of the 308-foot marker in center field.

In the 3rd, Jonathan Diaz's sharp grounder ricocheted off pitcher Brett Marshall's (0-1) foot for an infield single. Following a visit by the trainer, Marshall remained on the mound and walked the next two batters. Drew Sutton followed with a sacrifice fly and Lavarnway lined a two-run single to open a 4-0 lead.

Yet another walk by Marshall, his fourth in 3.0-plus innings, opened the 4th and led to an RBI single by Justin Henry to make it, 5-0.

Hamilton drove in another run with his third hit of the day, a 7th-inning single at the expense of reliever Josh Spence.

The RailRiders (0-4) didn't have a baserunner advance to third until the 8th inning, when they reached newcomer Ryan Rowland-Smith for a run. SWB scored again in the 9th off Anthony Carter, who got the final out for the second time in the series.

The PawSox continue their two-city trip with a 7:05 p.m. contest at Lehigh Valley on Monday. Righthander Rubby De La Rosa makes his Red Sox debut vs. B.J. Rosenberg.
