Sacramento River Cats News Release

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - In Shane Peterson's Saturday night return to the River Cats lineup after receiving Friday off, Las Vegas bested Sacramento at Raley Field by a score of 6-1.

Neither team was able to generate much offensively to begin the contest, as Las Vegas took a 1-0 lead into the sixth. In that inning, however, the 51s pushed three men across the plate, taking a 4-1 lead into the bottom half of the inning. The River Cats got on the board in the bottom half when Michael Taylor singled-home Grant Green.

Sacramento would allow two more Las Vegas runs and, despite totaling four hits in the game's last three frames, the River Cats were unable to push another run across, losing by a score of 6-1.

Peterson finished 0-for-3 with a walk in his return. Green paced the team offensively, going 2-for-4 with the team's only run scored. The River Cats logged seven hits as a team with none going for extra bases.

Daric Barton made his return to the River Cats lineup as well after being outrighted by Oakland. Sacramento's all-time leader in games played, Barton went 1-for-4 at the dish. River Cats starter Justin Thomas was charged with two earned runs in 5.1 innings on five hits, two walks and six strikeouts for the loss. Collin McHugh got his first win of 2013 for Las Vegas, holding Sacramento to one run with seven strikeouts.

Top prospect Sonny Gray (0-0, No ERA) will get the start for the River Cats opposite Las Vegas righty Carlos Torres (0-0, No ERA) at 1:05 p.m. on U.S. Bank Sunday Funday at Raley Field.
