Barons Sign Defenseman Joey Leach to ATO

Oklahoma City - The Oklahoma City Barons have signed defenseman Joey Leach to an Amateur Tryout, General Manager Bill Scott announced today.

Leach, a 6-4, 200-pounder from Wadena, Saskatchewan played the last five seasons with the Kootenay Ice of the Western Hockey League. During those five seasons, he played in 274 games, scored 134 points (27-107-134), served 299 penalty minutes and had a +/- rating of +96. Statistically, his best season was the 2011-12 campaign when he was the top scoring defenseman on his team with 43 points (12-31-43).

Originally drafted by the Calgary Flames in the third round (73rd overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, Leach appeared in the postseason in all five seasons he played with the Ice, scoring nine points (1-8-9) in 37 postseason contests.

The Barons return to action Friday night when they travel to Cedar Park Texas to take on the Texas Stars at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday, April 6, the Barons return home to face the Chicago Wolves at 7 p.m. The Barons are giving away TWO Ford Fiestas in their Drive Away Every Saturday promotion. The weekend concludes Sunday, April 7 against Chicago at 4 p.m. Following the game, the Barons invite fans to stay after the game to skate with members of the team. Skate rental is free with a ticket to the game.

All three games this week can be heard on the Barons flagship station, 96.1 KXY.
