Whale Sign Defenseman Conor Allen to ATO

HARTFORD, April 3, 2013: Connecticut Whale general manager Jim Schoenfeld announced today that the Whale has signed defenseman Conor Allen to an Amateur Tryout (ATO) agreement.

Allen, who agreed to terms on an NHL free agent contract with the parent New York Rangers last Friday, recently completed his third season of Hockey East play at U. Mass-Amherst. The 6-2, 210-pound Chicago native scored five goals and added 14 assists for 19 points in 33 games this year, leading Minuteman defensemen in points and assist. Allen finished third overall on the U. Mass-Amherst squad in assists, and fourth in points, and his 53 penalty minutes were second-most among Minuteman skaters.

In 99 career games in a U. Mas-Amherst uniform, the 23-year-old Allen registered 14 goals and 25 assists for 39 points, while serving 110 minutes in penalties.
