 Mississippi Braves

Thank You for Making Trustmark's Atlanta Exhibition Game a Success

April 3, 2013 - Southern League (SL1)
Mississippi Braves News Release

Braves Fans,

Thank you for joining us this past weekend for such a historical event when the Atlanta Braves traveled to Pearl. Saturday's game was the first time the Atlanta Braves had ever played an exhibition game in Mississippi. With an announced attendance of 8,217, you were part of the largest crowd in Trustmark Park history.

The Atlanta Braves decided to start holding exhibition games at its minor league affiliates last season. The game started in Triple-A Gwinnett and then moved to Double-A Mississippi this year.

Atlanta Braves President John Schuerholz, Executive V.P. and General Manager Frank Wren, and Executive V.P. Mike Plant were all in attendance for Saturday's game.

Mike Plant asked me to relay the following message to all our fans and supporters: "We were thrilled with the overall response, and we look forward to coming back. A ton of extra work goes into hosting an event of this magnitude prior to the regular season. There is the obvious business logistics, but there are many other obstacles including breaking camp from Spring Training early and getting everyone relocated for a one-day event."

Seeing the end result of a packed house and fans experiencing a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, ultimately makes it all worth it. Your response was well-noted in how fast tickets sold out and how early you made it out for the game.

Thank you again for being a part of this historic event. We hope you'll join us during the upcoming Mississippi Braves season. It's your chance to see future Atlanta Braves at the Double-A level, and one day, they'll return to Trustmark Park, too.

Sincerely,

Steve DeSalvo

General Manager
