Adirondack Phantoms News Release

The Philadelphia Flyers have announced that they have recalled defenseman Oliver Lauridsen from the Adirondack Phantoms, according to club GM Paul Holmgren. He will be available for Philadelphia's next game against the Boston Bruins on Saturday afternoon.

This is Lauridsen's first recall to the NHL. The 6-foot-6, 220-pound d-man has appeared in 59 game for the Phantoms this season, his second with Adirondack, posting a goal and five assists for six points and 77 penalty minutes. A native of Gentofte, Denmark, Lauridsen was the Flyers' seventh round pick (196th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He spent three seasons at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota of the WCHA.

"Ollie" spent last year, his rookie season, with the Phantoms where he played in 65 games scoring 3-4-7 with 85 penalty minutes. He is also nicknamed "The Great Dane" which coincides with his twitter handle @greatdane25 .

Lauridsen joined Adirondack at the end of the 2010-11 season out of college and in just his second professional game on March 22, 2011 was involved in his first pro fight against Zack FitzGerald of the Charlotte Checkers (now teammates with Lauridsen with Adirondack).

Phantoms fans have been seeing a lot of up-and-coming NHL talent in Glens Falls. Oliver Lauridsen becomes the 11th player to be called up from the Adirondack Phantoms to Philadelphia this season. The list includes Brayden Schenn, Sean Couturier, Zac Rinaldo, Eric Wellwood, Tye McGinn, Andreas Lilja, Erik Gustafsson, Brian Boucher, Harry Zolnierczyk, Michael Leighton and Oliver Lauridsen.
