Connecticut Whale News Release

The Whale (32-26-5-3, 72 pts.) won two of their three home games over the weekend, to attain a high-water mark of six games over .500 on the season and to move into sixth place in the Eastern Conference. Jason Missiaen registered his first AHL shootout win on Friday night, making 35 saves and going 5/5 in the shootout as the Whale downed Hershey, 3-2. Connecticut saw a four-game winning streak snapped on Saturday night in a 5-2 loss to Adirondack, but rebounded on Sunday to pound the powerful Binghamton Senators, 6-1. Whale rookies did most of the damage in that game, as Andrew Yogan had his first AHL three-point game with two goals and an assist, Christian Thomas scored twice and Dylan McIlrath chalked up his first multiple-point game as a pro, with two assists.

This week:

The Whale finish off a six-game homestand this Thursday night, hosting the Worcester Sharks at the XL Center at 7:00 PM. The Whale's only other game on the week is Saturday night in Springfield, a 7:00 PM faceoff against the Falcons.

Thursday, March 28 vs. the Worcester Sharks at the XL Center, 7:00 p.m.

* This game will feature a benefit jersey auction, in which fans will have a chance to purchase their favorite Whale player's home jersey, and to meet the player after the game as well. The auction will be held during the first intermission, and all proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project.

* The Sharks (29-26-1-6, 65 points) are currently part of a three-team tie for 11th in the Eastern Conference, six points out of a playoff spot and seven points behind the Whale.

* This is the last of four games on the year between the Whale and Sharks. Connecticut has triumphed in each of the first three, including a 2-1 win in the last meeting December 12, in Worcester's only other visit to the XL Center.

* Harri Sateri (14-15-3, 2.64, 90.9%, 1 SHO) has started nine straight games for the Sharks since Alex Stalock was recalled by parent-club San Jose March 9, going 4-4-1 over that span, with a 2.53 goals-against average and a 91.1% save percentage.

* For this and all Whale home games, tickets start as low as $10 each ($12 each when tickets are purchased on the day of the game), at the Public Power Ticket Office at the XL Center, through TicketMaster Charge-by-Phone at 1-800-745-3000 and on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.

* Radio - live with Bob Crawford and Mark Bailey on "Beethoven Radio" AM 1290, and on-line at www.ctwhale.com. Video streaming at www.ahllive.com.

Saturday, March 30 at the Springfield Falcons (MassMutual Center), 7:00 p.m.

* This is tenth of 12 games on the year between the Whale and their most familiar rivals the Falcons. The Whale have won two of the last three, but are 4-5-0-0 overall in the season series, 2-2-0-0 on the road.

* The Falcons rebounded from an 0-4-1-1 slump to win all three of their games this past week, to climb into a tie with Providence for second in the Eastern Conference at 37-18-5-4 for 83 points.

* Trent Vogelhuber scored two goals, including a shorthander, in Springfield's last game, a 4-3 shootout victory at Bridgeport Saturday night.

Whale Tales:

"Miracle on Ice" 1980 Team USA gold medal-winning hockey players Jack O'Callahan, Dave Silk and Steve Janaszak will be making a special appearance at the Whale's home game Friday, April 5 at the XL Center against the Springfield Falcons, to support "A Miracle for Justina", which is a fund to help defray the associated expenses of Justina, a 14-year-old West Hartford girl who is dealing with a complicated set of health issues. O'Callahan, Silk and Janaszak will be signing autographs for fans in the XL Center Atrium before the April 5 game and in the first intermission. There will also be a silent auction before and during the game of valuable sports memorabilia. Auction items will include autographed shirts donated by 1980 Team USA Olympians Jim Craig, and Mike Eruzione. All the proceeds from the auction will be donated to A Miracle for Justina. Fans can also take advantage of a special ticket discount, as $27 lower-bowl tickets can be purchased for only $15 each, with a portion of the proceeds from those discounted tickets going to A Miracle for Justina. To order the special A Miracle for Justina tickets, contact Jennifer Pelletier at a_miracle_for_justina@hotmail.com or (860) 614-7300. The deadline for ticket orders is April 3.

The April 5 Whale vs, Springfield clash is also the Whale's last Friday-night home game of the regular season. That means it is the last chance to take advantage of the Whale's special Friday-night food and beverage deal, which features $1 hot dogs and $2 beers until the end of the first intermission.

The Whale also have one Sunday home game left on their regular-season schedule. That's the last home game of the regular season, April 7 against the Providence Bruins. Faceoff is 3:00, and, as at all Whale Sunday home games this year, fans can score a great package deal with the Whale's "Click It or Ticket Sunday Family Value Packs". Those include a ticket, a hot dog or a pizza slice and a soda, all for just $18.

Whale fans can present their Whale ticket stub at the Russian Lady, which is located at 191 Ann Uccello Street, directly across from the XL Center, and not only skip the line at the door, but get in with no cover charge as well.

Before and after Whale games, fans showing their Whale tickets at the Tavern Downtown, located just steps from the XL Center at 100 Allyn St. in Hartford, can enjoy $3 Bud and Bud Lights.

For information on season seats, and all of the Whale's many ticketing options, visit www.ctwhale.com, or call the CT Whale ticket office at (860) 548-2000 to talk with an account executive today.
