March 29th Lumberjacks Home Game to Feature Epilepsy Awareness Night

MUSKEGON, Michigan (March 22nd) - On Friday, March 29th, the Muskegon Lumberjacks will entertain the Chicago Steel at 7:15 pm and will feature the first-ever Epilepsy Awareness Night that includes a Camp Discovery Drive to help out the local youth whose lives have been affected by epilepsy.

During the game, fans can bring in one or more items to donate towards the camp and, in exchange, will receive a voucher to use towards one of the two games during the final home weekend of the regular season against the Green Bay Gamblers on Friday, April 5th and Saturday, April 6th. Items needed include glue sticks, disposable cameras, hand sanitizer, sunscreen, travel-size bug spray, new beach towels, and games (jacks and marble sets only).

Michigan's Camp Discovery is a life-changing event for all parties involved as youth ages 8-17 with epilepsy spend five days and four nights enjoying various activities, form life-long friendships, and much more. Camp Discovery is the only camp in the state that specializes in children with epilepsy.

The in-game presentation will be epilepsy-friendly and will feature no strobe light usage throughout the night. Fans are also encouraged to wear purple to the game to help raise awareness for epilepsy as Tuesday, March 26th is World Purple Day to commemorate the over 65-million people whose lives been affected by epilepsy worldwide.

Gary Ball of the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan will also be in attendance during the game on the concourse level distributing pamphlets regarding the foundation. Director of the Epilepsy Foundation of Michigan Brianna Romines helped coordinate in the festivities taking place throughout the night.

The Epilepsy Foundation's objective is to have a group of dedicated staff members and volunteers work together to help improve the lives of the almost three million people in Michigan with epilepsy along with their families. Their mission is to also make sure people with seizures are able to experience all facets of life and how they are valued in society. Ultimately, their goal is to continue promoting research for a cure of epilepsy.

The Lumberjacks will continue their seven-game home stand with a pair of games tonight against the Chicago Steel and tomorrow against the USNTDP Under-18 Team, respectively, at 7:15 pm. Tickets will be on sale today for tomorrow night's game for the low price of $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12 if they are purchased before the day of the game. Tonight's game against the Chicago Steel features Reading Caravan Night along with the return of our "Rock the Arena" promotion. The "Rock the Arena" promotion is presented by Rock 101.7 FM where from 6:15-7:30 pm, Rolling Rock Beer will be sold for only $2 in select concession stand areas. Tomorrow's game against the USNTDP Under-18 Team features Beach Night along with Subway Saturday where fans will receive a buy-one, get-one sandwich free if the Lumberjacks beat the Phantoms and fans present their ticket stubs from that night at any participating West Michigan Subway location.
