Lightning Recall Cedrick Desjardins, Richard Panik From Syracuse

TAMPA BAY - The Tampa Bay Lightning have recalled goaltender Cedrick Desjardins and forward Richard Panik from the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today. Desjardins was recalled on an emergency basis.

Desjardins, 27, has appeared in 30 AHL games this season with the Crunch and Hamilton Bulldogs, compiling a record of 12-15-3 with a 2.62 goals-against average and .912 save percentage. Desjardins is coming off a shutout victory on Wednesday night, making 20 saves in a 1-0 victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. Since being acquired from Montreal on February 14, the 6-foot, 192-pound goaltender has notched a record of 5-2-1 to go along with a 1.71 goals-against average and .933 save percentage with the Crunch. Desjardins has appeared in one game with the Lightning this season, suffering a 4-3 loss against the Canadiens on March 9.

Panik, 22, has skated in 51 games with Syracuse this season, posting 22 goals and 41 points to go along with a plus-17 rating. The Martin, Slovakia native ranks third on the Crunch in goals and fourth in points. The 6-foot-1, 208-pound forward has also played in nine games with the Lightning this season, recording a goal. He made his NHL debut on February 12 and scored his first career NHL goal on February 23 at Carolina.
