March 20, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Texas Stars News Release

CEDAR PARK, TX - Colton Sceviour scored a goal and two assists and Matt Fraser tallied two goals to reach the 100 career professional points milestone as the Texas Stars scored three third period goals to defeat the San Antonio Rampage 4-3 Tuesday night at Cedar Park Center. With the victory Texas reclaims first place overall in the American Hockey League with 83 points.

A Texas turnover in the neutral zone allowed San Antonio to open the scoring on their first shot of the game. John McFarland put the finishing touches on a two-on-one breakaway at 2:45, beating the glove of Stars goaltender Richard Bachman with a wrister to give the Rampage a 1-0 lead. Matt Fraser responded for Texas on the power play by extending his point streak to six games with his 30th goal of the season at 9:59. Travis Morin found Fraser in the right faceoff circle and his one-timer flew over the sprawling glove of San Antonio netminder Dov Grumet-Morris to even the score at one. Colton Sceviour also tallied an assist on the goal. Just 58 seconds later, Evan Barlow flicked a wrist shot that snuck between Bachman and the near post to give the Rampage a 2-1 edge.

Greg Rallo put another tally on the board for the Rampage on the power play at 5:38 of the second period. Rallo blasted a one-timer from the left faceoff circle that left a screened Bachman helpless and extended San Antonio's lead to 3-1. Texas outshot the Rampage 10-5 during the second session, but trailed by two going into the third.

Halfway through the second frame Rampage forward Andre Deveaux sustained a gruesome injury that caused a significant delay in the game. Deveaux fell to the ice near the penalty boxes due to an incidental high stick and, while lying on the ice, appeared to be caught in the face by the skate of teammate Nolan Yonkman. Deveaux was treated on the ice and was able to leave under his own power, but did not return.

The Stars roared back to claim the lead by scoring three times in first six minutes of the third period. Fraser started the comeback with his second goal of the night, his 31st of the year, assisted by Morin and Sceviour at 1:17 to cut the deficit to one. The tally was Fraser's 100th career professional point in his 137th career pro game. Less than two minutes later Sceviour recorded his third point of the night to tie the game. Sceviour intercepted a Brian O'Hanley pass in the slot and snapped a wrister over the glove of Grumet-Morris for an unassisted goal. The Stars cashed in on another power play at 6:14 to grab their first lead of the game, scoring their third goal in the span of 4:57. Justin Dowling corralled a Mike Hedden pass off the end boards and tucked a wrist shot from an impossible angle between Grumet-Morris and the near post, giving Texas a 4-3 edge. San Antonio committed three penalties in the final ten minutes of play, allowing the Stars to dominate puck possession and thwart the Rampage counter-attack. Texas shut the door on San Antonio's final empty-net effort and sealed a thrilling comeback 4-3 victory.

Stars starter Richard Bachman stopped 23-of-26 shots in his first game since returning from Dallas and picked up his fourth win of the season. Rampage starter Dov Grumet-Morris turned away 33-of-37 Texas shots and was hit with the loss. The Stars outshot the visitors 37-26 and were 2-for-7 on the power play; San Antonio was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Texas Stars return to action on Friday, March 22nd as they host the Rochester Americans at 7:30 p.m. for the beginning of Military Appreciation Weekend and another Texas Lottery Lucky Section Night. 2013-14 Season Tickets are now on sale.
