St. John's IceCaps, Statoil Celebrate Youth Volunteers

March 19, 2013 - American Hockey League (AHL)
St. John's IceCaps News Release

Do you know a volunteer 18 years old or younger whose hard work deserves recognition?

The St. John's IceCaps and Statoil are Celebrating the Heroes of Tomorrow and are seeking nominations of deserving youth volunteers from our community.

Thirty volunteers will be chosen to attend the IceCaps April 9th contest versus the Portland Pirates at Mile One Centre. Nominations may be made by organizations or the general public.

"Volunteerism is the backbone of our community," says Danny Williams, President and CEO of the St. John's IceCaps. "The IceCaps rely on volunteers to help deliver our charitable endeavours which have provided nearly a million dollars in donations and in-kind donations to non-profit organizations throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. It is important to recognize the valuable contributions of our volunteers and we are proud to partner with Statoil in this initiative."

Atle Aadland, vice president of Statoil's Newfoundland office, says volunteers benefit our communities on many levels, but the rewards go both ways.

"Through volunteering, youth learn leadership, compassion, and many other skills they can use to meet the challenges and opportunities ahead of them. That is why we support the heroes of tomorrow and events like this one."

Application forms can be found online at www.stjohnsicecaps.com. Deadline for submissions is March 29.
