Nutkevitch, Spivak Named to CHL All-Rookie Team

FORT WORTH, Texas (March 18) - The Central Hockey League announced Monday the members of the 2012-13 All-Rookie Team, which included Brahmas forward Sy Nutkevitch and defenseman Daniel Spivak.
Nutkevitch is in his first full season with the Brahmas after joining the team late in the 2011-12 campaign from SUNY-Potsdam. Among CHL rookies this season, the Dollard-des-Ormeaux, Quebec native ranks seventh in goals (13), second in assists (32), third in points (45) and third in power-play goals (5), while leading all first-year players in plus/minus rating (+16) and power-play assists (9).
Nutkevitch is also on the ballot for CHL Rookie of the Year. The winner of the award will be announced Tuesday, March 19.
Before an upper-body injury that has kept him out of the team's last 16 games, Spivak was a productive piece of an efficient Fort Worth defensive corps that has allowed only 171 goals in 63 games this season. In 46 games played, the Thornhill, Ontario native notched 13 points (three goals, 10 assists) and a +9 rating, the seventh highest among CHL rookies.
Spivak played four seasons at Rochester Institute of Technology before joining the Brahmas this season.
The other players chosen to the team were forwards Mike Hellyer of Quad City and Greger Hanson of Wichita, Arizona defenseman Matt McCready and Allen goaltender Aaron Dell.
The Brahmas hit the road this week for a three-game series versus the Arizona Sundogs in Prescott Valley, set to begin Wednesday, March 20. The two teams will also meet Friday, March 22 and Saturday, March 23 to close out the regular season. Fort Worth is 5-3-0 against the Sundogs this season and 14-5-2 all-time.
The Brahmas are one of four teams in the CHL to have already clinched a playoff berth. Postseason ticket packages are now available.
